How to install System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (SC2012CM RC- Release Candidate) and System Center 2012 EndPoint Protection (SC2012EP).

Hi all,

In this post , i explain how to install System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (SC2012CM RC- Release Candidate ) and System Center 2012 EndPoint Protection (SC2012EP) .

What's SC2012CM RC:

System Center Configuration Manager 2012 helps IT empower people to use the devices and applications they need to be productive, while maintaining corporate compliance and control.

What's news in this release:

  • Improved endpoint protection functionality, with integrated setup, management and reporting for System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection.
  • Improved application catalog design that provides a better, more responsive experience when requesting and downloading applications.
  • New support for Windows Embedded devices, including Windows Embedded 7 SP1, POSReady 7, Windows 7 Think PC, and Windows Embedded Compact 7.
  • Improved client status checks for Configuration Manager services and features.
  • Improved compliance enforcement and tracking, with the ability to create dynamic collections of baseline compliance and the generation of hourly compliance summaries.
  • Platform support for deep mobile device management of Nokia Symbian Belle devices. Pending a platform update by Nokia later this calendar year for these devices, customers will be able to try out the management of these Nokia devices with ConfigMgr.
  • Additional scalability and performance improvements.

  • System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection (previously known as Forefront Endpoint Protection 2012) protects client and server operating systems against the latest threats using industry-leading malware detection technologies. It is built on System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, giving customers a unified infrastructure for client security and compliance management. This shared infrastructure lowers ownership costs while providing improved visibility through user-centric malware reporting and control over endpoint management and security.

    New features in the release candidate include:
  • Support for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, including integrated setup, management, and reporting.
  • Role-based management across security and operations.
  • Improved alerting and reporting, with near real-time and user-centric data views.
  • More efficient delivery of signature updates using new automatic software deployment model.

Environnement requirements:

1 Active Directory Domain controller

1 Server for SCCM 2012

 


Minimum System Requirements (base):

  • Supported Operating Systems:
  • Windows Server 2008

    • Standard Edition (no service pack or SP1)
    • Enterprise Edition (no service pack or SP1)
    • Data Center Edition (no service pack or SP1)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2

    • Standard Edition (no service pack or SP1)
    • Enterprise Edition (no service pack or SP1)
    • Data Center Edition (no service pack or SP1)

  • Supported SQL Servers version (In this post, the OS and SQL installation is not include.) :
  • SQL Server 2008 SP2 with Cumulative Update 6 Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP1 and Cumulative Update 3 Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition

  • SQL Database Collation:

·         To support database replication in a hierarchy with mixed site server operating system languages, the SQL Server instance in use at each site must use the following collation: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

·         When you have a standalone primary site, or when each site server in your hierarchy runs on the same operating system language, the SQL Server instance can uses the collation of SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS or the default collation for the operating system language.

Others components required:

IIS roles , Framework 4.0 etc...for read all prerequisite and supported configurations, click HERE

 

Launch Setup.exe and select Install

Click Next

Select Install a configuration Primary Site Server and click Next

Insert number licence, accept licence terms and click Next

Indicate the download source path and click ok

Click Next

In my example, i select MAR for Site Code and put this information for Site Name (Primary Site SCCM 2012 RC1) and click Next

Let default Installation folder and Install Admin console

Select Primary Site will be installed as a standalone site click Next

Click Yes

Click Next

Click Next

Select Site roles can be individually enabled to allow either HTTP or HTTPS client communication and click Next

Click Next

Click Next

Click Next

The prerequisite Check start and indicate if you miss install a component for SCCM 2012 and click Begin Install

Install in progress...

Install is finish!!! Big Smile you can see the log files with the View log Option tab

Select the ConfigMgr Console shorcut and launch...

System Center Service Manager Authoring Tool (For SCSM 2012 Beta) The System Center Service Manager Authoring Tool is a tool for customization and extension of the built-in functionality in System Center Service Manager. This release supports modifying existing Process Management Packs and creating new Management Packs that define extensions to the Service Manager database for tracking additional information, customizations of forms or new forms, and new workflows. This release is available in 10 languages.

This release is compatible with Service Manager 2012 beta. It contains the necessary changes to ensure the Authoring Tool is compatible with SCSM 2012 but does not contain a new feature set from prior releases.

  • Site servers and site roles require 64-bit OS (distribution points are an exception)

Branch Distribution Points

  • Branch distribution points have been deprecated and replaced with standard distribution points that can be hosted on Configuration Manager 2012 client operating system platforms, with the exception of Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 and Windows XP Tablet PC SP3
  • Standard DPs can run on Windows Server 32-bit but will not support advanced functionality

Server Operating System Requirements

  • Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) and Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Distribution points can run on Windows Server 2003

Client Operating System Requirements

  • Windows XP professional SP3 – x86 and Windows XP SP2 pro for 64 bit systems
  • Windows Vista SP2 (x86,x64)
  • Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 (x86,x64)
  • Windows Server 2008 (x86,x64)

Database Requirements:

  • SQL Server 2008 SP2 with CU 6
  • SQL Server Express 2008 r2 WITH SP1 and CU 3 is supported only on secondary sites
  • SQL Reporting Services is ONLY reporting solution
